HeartCode® PALS is a comprehensive program that uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.  Using eSimulation technology, students can assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students also apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to

  • Perform high-quality Child CPR AED and Infant CPR per AHA BLS recommendations
  • Differentiate between patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
  • Recognize cardiopulmonary arrest early and begin CPR within 10 seconds
  • Apply team dynamics
  • Differentiate between respiratory distress and failure
  • Perform early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
  • Differentiate between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
  • Perform early interventions for the treatment of shock
  • Differentiate between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias

This course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.  Infant, child and adult guidelines are included.  The AHA no longer offers Renewal or Update classes.  All healthcare providers must take the full training every two years.

This course is the required CPR/AED training for ANYONE in the healthcare field.  (Ex. EMTs, nurses, dental assistants, doctors & more all need this course)

The AHA has added a BLS Renewal Course option for BLS providers to complete BLS training and receive a BLS Provider course completion card. The BLS Renewal Course is a video-based, instructor-led course that features accelerated content. It is designed specifically for providers with a current (not-expired) BLS Provider course completion card and allows for time efficiency while teaching both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills in both in-facility and prehospital settings.

ECG & Pharmacology Is highly recommended as a pre-requesite to ACLS and PALS

It is a 1 day, 8 hour course that covers basic electrophysiology, normal ECG measurements, basic and advanced arrhythmia, and basic ACLS/PALS drug usage and routes of administration (the required knowledge before attending ACLS or PALS). Perfect for anyone wanting an introduction or refresher to ECG! EMS CEUs are available, $10 processing fee applies and must be completed at the time of the course.

This 10-12 hour course is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in group sessions with small, group learning and skills testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. EMS and Nursing CEUs are available, processing fee applies.  If you wish to renew your BLS at the same time as your ACLS: go back to course registration and click on ACLS/BLS Course.

Heartsaver CPR AED Online is the eLearning portion of the Heartsaver CPR AED blended learning course and is designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for CPR and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete a hands-on session with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor.

Upon successful completion of both portions of the course, students receive a Heartsaver CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.

After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
  • Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival

Heartsaver CPR AED Online is a self-directed course that uses interactive lessons and videos to teach you CPR, AED and choking knowledge. This program is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs an AHA course completion card.

Heartsaver First Aid Online is a self-directed course that uses interactive lessons and videos to teach you comprehensive first aid knowledge. This program is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs an AHA course completion card. Once you begin the course, you’ll have access to the online lessons, videos, manuals and other resources for 2 years! You can start and stop the course at your convenience until you have finished it at your own pace.

CPR SKILLS instruction includes high-quality compressions, airway management, breathing, and how to use a mask.

FIRST AID SKILLS instruction includes use of EPI-Pen, Bandaging,Assessing the Victim and successful  removal of contaminated gloves (mock).

Successful completion of the full Heartsaver CPR/AED-First Aid  Course includes 3 parts:

During this 2-day, 16 hour course, candidates must demonstrate satisfactory performance using lectures, scenarios, interactive case presentations, skill presentations, and proper use of video-mediated learning.  Once your Instructor course is completed, the Instructor candidate is required to return to HealthPro for course monitoring and instruction. Instructor candidates must demonstrate skills in student testing, assessment, and remediation.Once you become an Instructor, you will have access to the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources and tools through the online AHA Instructor Network. During this 2-day, 14 hour course, candidates must demonstrate satisfactory performance using lectures, scenarios, interactive case presentations, skill presentations, and proper use of video-mediated learning. Instructor candidates must return to HealthPro for Instructor course monitoring and instruction.  Instructor candidates must demonstrate skills in student testing, assessment, and remediation.Once you become an Instructor, you will have access to the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources and tools through the online AHA Instructor Network. You will also be able to post class dates and times to reach more students through the AHA public website.

Candidates must complete the following tasks to become an Instructor:
  • Have current AHA PALS provider status, and be proficient in all the skills
  • Complete an Instructor Candidate Application. (Application PDF) - SIGNED BY YOUR TC
  • Become aligned with an American Heart Association Training Center.
  • Obtain a PALS Instructor Manual. Option: PALS Instructor Package (2015 guidelines)
  • Successfully complete the classroom Instructor Course with HealthPro
  • Receive a PALS Instructor Card, valid for two years
  • Register online with the AHA Instructor Network
  • Successfully be monitored teaching your first PALS course within six months after completing the Instructor Course

Management of Assaultive Behavior for Healthcare Workers is a violence prevention and de-escalation program that offers the 1 year certification required by law for all healthcare workers assigned to Emergency Departments or working in psychiatric facilities.  Many facilities require employees to attend this course, even if not required by law.

This 4 hour course covers the essential  methods of crisis negotiation. By the end of this training, participants will have the knowledge and tools to:

  • Identify triggers of assaultive behavior
  • Use non-physical de-escalation techniques in an effort to prevent the occurrence of patient violence
  • Respond to incidents using the least restrictive interventions necessary
  • Utilize non-harmful personal safety techniques in a hostile situation
  • Effectively debrief after an incident in order to establish a constructive resolution with the patient, and identify among staff what went well and what needs to improve

COURSE COMPLETION:   This course satisfies the requirements for Initial Provider and Renewal certification. Certificates will be given upon completion of this course.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: This course is designed for participants who provide health care to patients in the Emergency Department, hospital and pre-hospital settings. It is recommended for Psychiatric Technicians, LVNs, CNAs, RNs, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, Paramedics, EMTs, Physicians and more.

PHTLS Hybrid is a two part course:  an 8 hour online portion and an 8 hour in-class skills portion.  Save time away from your work and gain knowledge of state-of-the-art, evidence-based PHTLS trauma treatment and guidelines, proven to reduce morbidity and mortality.

16 contact hours and a provider card are provided upon successful completion of the course.
